Prosecutors say Mason Jordan, while serving as a Honolulu police officer, impersonated young people on social media to lure children to work as prostitutes.
The Honolulu City Council unanimously approved the settlement for Jonaven Perkins-Sinapati, who says HPD officers ran his car off the road in 2021, injuring him and five passengers.
The officers are on restricted duty but have not been charged, police said. Medical records say police pulled him off a motorcycle or bike.
The officers, who were fired this month by the Honolulu Police Department, are also facing criminal charges.
Honolulu has a much larger police force, and the city might have to put up considerably more than the $13 million that Maui agreed to pay.
Brandy and Thomas Blas and her mother, Debra Geron, were also indicted on counts related to the treatment of their 4-year-old adopted son.
