Meet Civil Beat staff on Thursday when we again take our newsroom on the road.

Join us for another Civil Beat pop-up newsroom at the North Kohala Public Library on Thursday.

Our last journalistic roadtrip was at the Kealakekua Public Library in late February when visitors shared a lot about the issues with infrastructure, services and generational change in their community.

Civil Beat journalists and business team members will be available to meet with the public between 10 a.m. and noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The library address is 54-3645 Akoni Pule Highway in Kapaau.

The format is casual and we welcome people who just want to drop by and say aloha. These events have proven a valuable source of new local story ideas for our journalists.

Read some of the reporting that was the result of our other pop-up newsrooms.

We’ll also be in Pearl City on Oahu for the next pop-up newsroom event on Wednesday, March 20 from 10 a.m. til the library’s close.

We post the advance schedule for our events on our website.

Civil Beat’s pop-up newsrooms are supported by the Hawaii Community Foundation.

Before you go

Civil Beat is a small nonprofit newsroom that provides free content with no paywall. That means readership growth alone can’t sustain our journalism.

The truth is that less than 1% of our monthly readers are financial supporters. To remain a viable business model for local news, we need a higher percentage of readers-turned-donors.

Will you consider becoming a new donor today?
