Drop by the Kealakekua Public Library on Monday and talk story with Civil Beat team members.

Save the date! The next Civil Beat pop-up newsroom is on Monday at the Kealakekua Public Library in Hawaii County.

Reporters, editors and engagement team members will be available from 10 a.m. and 4 p.m to answer your questions about our journalism and hear your suggestions for stories.

The format is casual and we’re happy for curious folks to just drop by and say hi. We also value people with a little more time who give us insights into what is happening in the community.

Some of these conversations can end up being the basis for Civil Beat stories.

The next pop-up newsroom on Big Island will be in North Kohala on March 7. You can keep track of our schedule on the website.

This project is supported by the Hawaii Community Foundation.

Before you go

Civil Beat is a small nonprofit newsroom that provides free content with no paywall. That means readership growth alone can’t sustain our journalism.

The truth is that less than 1% of our monthly readers are financial supporters. To remain a viable business model for local news, we need a higher percentage of readers-turned-donors.

Will you consider becoming a new donor today?
