Kawika Lopez is the Operations Specialist at Honolulu Civil Beat.

Born and raised in Waialua on the North Shore of Oahu, Kawika has a lifelong connection with the islands. One of his greatest passions is to share the beauty of the Hawaiian islands with others through still photography. His background in documentary film and photography allows him to bring a unique blend of creative expertise and strategic thinking to Civil Beat’s operations team.

Kawika has a deep appreciation for the land and culture of Hawaii and wishes to cultivate those values within his family, including his two young boys, as well as within the community that Civil Beat serves.
