Where to Get STD Testing in Boston

Several Boston clinics list free testing. Boston Medical Center's STD clinic and the Multicultural AIDS Coalition in Roxbury both list it as free, and Fenway Health says uninsured patients can be seen free through grant funding. Call first to confirm hours and whether you need an appointment.

Some places take walk-ins. Fenway Health lists walk-in hours on Tuesday through Friday, the Multicultural AIDS Coalition says an appointment is optional, and Codman Square's X-Clinic offers walk-in express visits. The Boston STD Clinic books by phone. Schedules differ between sources, so call to confirm.

Massachusetts law, M.G.L. c. 112, s. 12F, lets a minor who reasonably believes they are at risk consent to STI care without a parent. The City of Boston says people 13 or older can get a confidential STI test without parental permission. Ask the clinic how it handles billing and privacy.

Fenway Health says results come in 3 to 5 business days. The other clinic pages do not list a turnaround, so ask when you book. Some infections take time to show on a test after exposure, and a clinician can tell you whether to test now or again later.

Chlamydia is curable with treatment from a clinician. If a clinician diagnoses it, Massachusetts allows expedited partner therapy, meaning a clinician may prescribe treatment for partners. The Massachusetts Legislature's M.G.L. c. 111, s. 121B and the CDC list chlamydia under the state regulation. Ask your clinician what applies to your partners.
